Blues sneaks past the Chiefs

UNDER 10/UNDER 7
Nov 13 2010 (Silvestri Middle School)
In one of the most exciting game this season, the LVRA Blues came from behind to beat the LVRA Chiefs at the final whistle (48-46). Blues played the last 5 minutes of the game with a man short. Blues Fly half #10 Ami was hurt and was out of commission till the final second when Ami score the final try to tie the game (46-46). Blues #9 Anthony was given the ball to kick for the win. Anthony took the ball and placed it and took a few steps back. Doing his best Jonny Wilkinson pose, Anthony kicked the ball sending it to the right side and fans went crazy. The kick is good.
Coach Siva said “Anthony did awesome. He was calm and focus and if it was me I would definitely missed it” Anthony was 4 for 4 for the day and the final kick was something to remember. Referee Vaha said “It was one of the best games I ever refereed or watched. Anthony was awesome but the whole Blues team was outstanding coming back at the last second to win the game”
The Blues struck 1st with #10 Ami taking a pass from Sarah #7 and going the length of the field to score (Conversion was good by Anthony). The Blues scored again with Anthony #9 taking a quick tap, Anthony side step a defender and then out ran the chiefs. (Conversion missed by Ami. 12-0) The Chiefs got on the board with Tristan #13 getting the ball out wide with space to run. (Conversion missed 12-5) Tristan scored hat trick22 meters out tie the game. (Conversion good by Logan 12-12) The Blues replied back with Anthony scoring his 3rd try with some great ball movement from his forwards and backs. The Blues extended their lead with Sarah #7 finding space outside with no defender in front of her. (24-12) But the LVRA Chiefs fought back before the half, with Job #4 taking the ball short from Dillian#2 splitting two Blues defender and sliding into the try line. (Conversion made by Tristan 19-24) Just before halftime, the chiefs took the kickoff and sent the ball wide left and then back to the right and Tristan found a gap to score. (Conversion missed 24-24)
Halftime LVRA Blues 24 LVRA Chiefs 24
The 2nd half started the same way the 1st half ended. The Chief took the kickoff and attack the left side of the field, sending Tristan #13 under the post. Tristan again scored 3 minutes later to give the chief the lead. (34-24) But the LVRA Blues did not give up and kept fighting back with tries from Anthony (34-34). With 10 minutes left in the half, Chief’s Tristan scored two more tries and one conversion to give his team the lead (46-34). With only 3 minutes left on the clock, the blues attacking in the chief’s 20 meter line finally broke the defense with Anthony doing the honor. (41-46). at some point during the Blues attack to score Ami #10 was injured. So with no time left and a reminder from the ref, that the next dead ball is game, the Blues attack and made sure they kept possession of the ball. For what seem like 5 minutes of attacking by the Blues, the Chiefs defense started to some fatigue. After some treatment to Ami (who received it while still on the field of play) the Blues got a boost of confident and kept attacking. After a tackling (touch tag) Dominick #3 passed the ball to his left to Sarah who sent it to Ami. Ami sidestepped a defender then out ran the cover defense to score in the corner with no time left (46-46) now comes the moment of courage. The entire Blues player looked at Anthony to take the ball to kick and Anthony with no hesitation took the ball and placed it on the kicking tee. The kick was good, Blues 48 Chiefs 46. What a way to end the regular Fall Season. Don’t miss the 2010 Fall Season Championship next week as the hungry and on fire Chiefs goes up against the Summer Champions Blues.
