Hurricanes outlast the Brumbies

Hurricanes outlast the Brumbies

Under 13/Under 19 (Oct 30 2010)

This was a game of two halves. Hurricanes and Brumbies played a very physical and fast game. Brumbies McKenna scored two tries against Hurricanes 3 tries (Brad 2 and Cody). “Both team played very well and at the end it was who wanted it more” said Coach Bill. It seems that the Brumbies lost that competitive edge in 2nd half. “We just gave up in the 2nd half and pretty much gave the game away” said McKenna.

The 2nd half started with some good forward drive from the Hurricanes forwards and backs. Hurricanes beat the Brumbies to the breakdown. After several effort to break the Brumbies defense, Hurricane’s #9 Shane split two defender to score (Hurricanes 20 Brumbies 10). Brumbies score two more tries from Prop Jacob and fullback Cody to take the lead and the win. “At halftime we talked about what we needed to do to beat the tough defense and it worked” said Hurricanes Brad.

Coach Allen said “The Brumbies just fell apart due to lack of communication and teamwork. We will go back to the basic on Tuesday and work on what rugby is all about” It’s a different story then last weeks game when both team played a high intensity game and some great individual efforts. Director of Rugby for LVRA Vaha Esikia said “I think both teams played great. Brumbies players are doing well and will enhance their rugby skills at training and that they will be well prepared to handle any situation on the rugby pitch.”

Las Vegas Rugby Academy have a bye next week and will play their next game Nov 13 2010. So we will be waiting anxiously for the kickoff on that day.
